AI Use Policy

Audience: Students and faculty

Use AI to generate alternatives, not to replace accountability.

Required declaration format

Include this block in every AI-assisted entry:

AI-assisted step:
Tool/model used:
What I accepted:
What I rejected:
Independent check performed:
Effect on final decision:

Minimum policy standard

  1. Declare what AI produced and where it was used.
  2. Verify key claims independently.
  3. Keep final judgment human and decision ownership explicit.

Compliant vs non-compliant

Compliant: - "AI drafted three alternatives; I rejected two after unit and bounds checks." - "I verified the accepted claim using an independent back-of-envelope estimate." - "Final recommendation changed after verification showed one AI claim was invalid."

Non-compliant: - "AI generated the answer and I submitted it." - "No verification method documented." - "No record of what evidence changed the decision."
